City Administration

 

Etowah City Hall is located at 723 Ohio Avenue on the lower level of the Library and is open for your convienence Monday - Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm. The friendly staff of City Hall is available to answer most all of your questions regarding city issues. In addition, all Etowah City traffic citations are able to be paid at City Hall as well as Etowah city code violations. Any questions regarding tickets and code violations can also be answered at City Hall. Commission Meetings are scheduled for the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30pm and City Court is scheduled the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 6:00pm in the Commission Chambers.

 

 

City Manager

 

The City of Etowah operates on a Council/Manager form of government, with the City Manager serving as the Chief Administrative Officer.

 

The City Manager for the City of Etowah is Matthew Gravley. Matthew is from Etowah but spent 20 years away from the area. Coming back in 2010, he accepted his current role as City Manager. He received a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Tennessee in 1997. Afterwards, he worked for Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC for several years traveling abroad to 40 countries worldwide. He then accepted a position as Vice President of a 3PL logistics company in New Orleans, LA before returning to Etowah. "I love this city, it was good to me growing up. It is as beautiful and peaceful a place to live as there is anywhere in the world."

 

Court Clerk

 

Leah Tavernese has served as the Etowah City Court Clerk since 2011. Prior to that she worked in the Etowah Library as a part time Librarian. Leah is here to serve you and would be happy to answer any and all of your questions

Human Resources

 

Eva Valentine is the Human Resource Director for the City of Etowah. Our city believes that the most important resource is its employees. There are five departments employing 37 full-time and 14 part-time employees. The Human Resource Director is responsible for all personnel functions for the City. We offer competitive pay and excellent benefits. Our goal in choosing an employee is to be able to provide excellent service to the citizens of Etowah.

Finance

 

The Finance Department oversees the collection of all revenues, accounts payable, administration of grants and administration of employee benefits. Rebecca Penney is the Finance Director/City Recorder for the City of Etowah and is the only employee in the Finance Department.
