Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for the New Community Center, Hopper Baseball Complex, Cox Athletic Field, The Gem Theater, City Park, Etowah Depot, a soccer complex and walking trail. The City of Etowah was named a Playful City for 2013 by the non proffit organization KaBOOM.

The department completed construction on a New Community Center located at 155 Robinson St. off of Highway 30 in December 2011. The new community center was made possible by a Local Parks & Recreation Fund grant (LPRF) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Community Center has various exercise programs for citizens of all ages.

Brian Silber is the Director of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Department of the City of Etowah is here to help the citizens of Etowah; please feel free to call or visit with us with any concern or need you may have.

Etowah Community Center

The Etowah Community Center offers something for everyone including: Full Weight Room, Climbing Wall, Indoor Batting Cage, Aerobics and Dance, Game Rooms, Indoor Basketball Court, Meeting Rooms, Wi-Fi access and more!

Ride with us on the historic Hiwassee River Rail Adventure scenic rail excursion through the unspoiled Cherokee National Forest, along beautiful and scenic Hiwassee River, and through the secluded Hiwassee River Gorge.  All trips include riding around an engineering marvel: The Great Hiwassee Loop. At the top you'll be passing over a bridge 62 feet above the tracks on which you've just traveled, as the rails negotiate a spiraling formation.

The non profit orgnization KaBoom has honored the City of Etowah as a Playful City for 2013 and 2014 for our dedication to providing oppotunities for all children to be able to have opportunities to play.
