The City of Etowah is proposing to the voters of the City of Etowah the adoption of a revised city charter at the August 7, 2014 general election.

REVISED CHARTER
 

On Monday, April 14, 2014 beginning at 10:00 am, The City of Etowah will conduct a public reading of the entire City Charter. 

Bill Landry, actor, producer, and director, best known for East Tennessee’s “The Heartland Series” will be conducting the live reading at the Gem Theatre in Etowah, TN.   The second reading will be conducted at the Regular City of Etowah Commission meeting on Monday, April 28, 2014.

The Parks and Recreation department is responsible for the New Community Center, Hopper Baseball Complex, Cox Athletic Field, The Gem Theater, City Park, Etowah Depot, a soccer complex and walking trail. The City of Etowah was named a Playful City for 2013 by the non proffit organization KaBOOM.

 

The department completed construction on a New Community Center located at 155 Robinson St. off of Highway 30 in December 2011. The new community center was made possible by a Local Parks & Recreation Fund grant (LPRF) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Community Center has various exercise programs for citizens of all ages.

Brian Silber is the Director of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Department of the City of Etowah is here to help the citizens of Etowah; please feel free to call or visit with us with any concern or need you may have.

Registration is open for all ages. For our Under 6 and up program the child must have been born prior to February 1, 2008. For our Under 5 Jamboree program the child must have been born prior to March 1, 2009. The Jamboree program would be once a week at Athens Regional Park. If your child played in the Fall, they will be in the same age division for the Spring.

 

Registration fee is $25. Uniforms are $25 for jersey, socks, and shorts.

 

AYSO now requires all Regions to register players and volunteers online using electronic signatures. While this may create an inconvenience the first time around it will be more convenient and quicker in the long run. Please bear with us as we learn this new system.

 We will have an “Express Line” for those who submit the Player Application online and complete the Spring registration prior to the registration events.  At the express line submit your forms, pay the fees, volunteer, order your child’s free 50th Anniversary T shirt, and be on your way! (Free T shirt is for those that fully registered online prior to the registration events.) All others may purchase for $10.

2014 will be another action pack summer for our kids we are in the process of planning our ESCAPE programs.
